Deutsche Bank is on the verge of launching its institutional cryptocurrency custody service, marking another step in the integration of digital assets into mainstream financial services. The German banking giant plans to offer custody solutions for Bitcoin and Ethereum, targeting professional clients in Germany. The service, developed in collaboration with Swiss company Taurus, is expected to go live within weeks.
The custody platform is designed to meet the stringent requirements of institutional clients, including asset segregation, compliance, and regulatory expectations. Unlike retail-focused crypto apps, this service aims to provide a familiar banking interface for institutions to manage digital assets securely.
Deutsche Bank’s move reflects a broader trend in traditional finance, where banks are increasingly investing in blockchain infrastructure and tokenized assets. The bank has also hinted at potential expansions into tokenized deposits and Asian markets in 2027, though these plans remain contingent on regulatory approvals.
While the launch is imminent, it does not yet represent a global service. The bank’s long-term vision, however, is clear: to establish itself as a key player in the infrastructure supporting the holding, transfer, and management of digital assets.
