Deutsche Bank to Launch Crypto Custody Service by End of 2026
Deutsche Bank is set to launch its crypto custody service by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals. The service will initially support a limited range of assets, including Bitcoin, Ether, and two stablecoins: USDC and EURC.
The German bank's move follows in the footsteps of Standard Chartered and BBVA, which already offer regulated crypto custody services in Europe. Deutsche Bank has chosen to focus on well-established and compliant assets, rather than more speculative options.
The launch of Deutsche Bank's crypto custody service coincided with the failure of the Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate, which aimed to establish a unified regulatory framework for the crypto sector. The act's failure led to a 450 million dollar drop in bitcoin ETFs, highlighting the need for clear and consistent regulation.
