Deutsche Bank Unveils Regulated Crypto Custody Service for Institutions
Deutsche Bank is launching a regulated digital-asset custody service for European institutional and corporate clients this year. The service will support Bitcoin, Ether, USDC, EURC, and EURAU assets at launch, with tokenized financial instruments on the roadmap.
The bank's focus on institutional clients sets it apart from retail-focused crypto services. Deutsche Bank plans to manage wallets and private keys for clients, allowing assets to be transferred to third parties while maintaining robust security architecture.
One notable asset is EURAU, a stablecoin issued by AllUnity, a joint venture between DWS (Deutsche Bank's asset-management arm) and Flow Traders. This connection highlights the overlap of regulated digital-finance infrastructure within established financial groups.
Stablecoins like EURAU could provide institutions with a digital cash instrument for transactions, complementing blockchain-based assets. Deutsche Bank is positioning its custody service as a hub for institutional finance on-chain, potentially expanding its role in traditional securities and liquidity services.
