Deutsche Bank Unveils Regulated Crypto Custody Service for Institutional Clients
Deutsche Bank is set to launch a regulated digital asset custody service for institutional clients in Europe. The service, which will support Bitcoin, Ether, and selected stablecoins including USDC, EURC, and EURAU, will allow clients to hold and transfer digital assets through the bank.
The bank will manage wallets and private keys on behalf of its clients, using a custody platform that incorporates hardware-protected key generation, separate warm and cold storage environments, segregation of duties, multi-person transaction approvals, and controlled backup and recovery systems.
Deutsche Bank has partnered with Swiss digital asset infrastructure company Taurus to develop the service, which is expected to onboard its first institutional and corporate clients in 2026 once regulatory processes are completed. The bank's co-head of Corporate Bank, Gerald Podobnik, views digital assets as additional financial rails that can operate alongside existing market infrastructure.
The launch follows other blockchain projects within Deutsche Bank, including a euro-denominated cross-border payment through Partior's blockchain network in September 2025 and work on tokenized money, securities, and settlement infrastructure.
