DFDV Raises $20M with CHAD Stock, Eyes More Solana Buying
DeFi Development Corporation (NASDAQ: DFDV) has issued a new preferred stock called CHAD Stock to raise up to $20 million. This move is significant as it allows the company to improve its balance sheet and use the funds to buy more Solana (SOL). DFDV already owns the third-largest Solana treasury with over 2 million SOL.
The timing of this move is particularly interesting, given that DFDV's stock price has grown by over 80% in Q3. This growth gives the company better momentum to raise more funds and continue its accumulation of SOL.
On the other hand, Solana's (SOL) memecoin ecosystem has seen a significant surge in activity after the launch of Pump.fun, a memecoin launchpad. However, this increased activity has also led to selling pressure on SOL. In fact, Pump.fun sold another 132k SOL on September 1st, pushing its cumulative SOL sales to 5,110,924 SOL.
DFDV's decision to issue CHAD Stock could mark a shift in the dynamics of supply and demand for Solana. Corporate treasury practices like those employed by DFDV could serve as a reliable source of demand for SOL, potentially balancing out the selling pressure from Pump.fun.
