Dice Rolls Offer Offline Security for Bitcoin Wallets

A method for securing Bitcoin wallets offline has gained attention after a hardware wallet flaw exposed thousands of dollars' worth of cryptocurrency. The process involves rolling a six-sided die about 50 to 99 times, generating strong entropy without relying on electronic devices.

This method is mathematically sound and can provide security against flaws like the one in Coldcard's faulty random-number generator. However, it is impractical for most users due to its tedious and error-prone nature.

Coldcard users are advised to update their firmware and review all keys generated on affected devices to ensure security. While dice-generated seeds remain secure from this flaw, secondary keys created by the device may still be vulnerable.
