Digital Commodities Buys C$100,000 Worth of Solana for Treasury
Digital Commodities Inc., a company listed on the OTCQB and FSE exchanges, has made a significant move into the world of cryptocurrency. The company announced that it has acquired approximately C$100,000 worth of Solana (SOL) for its treasury, representing about 5% of its estimated net asset value as of September 28, 2026.
The purchase was funded by selling a portion of the company's physical gold holdings. According to CEO Brayden Sutton, 'Bitcoin remains the foundation of our treasury.' Solana was chosen for its potential in programmable finance, stablecoins, tokenization, and transaction processing.
Digital Commodities has adopted a two-tier digital asset treasury strategy, with the first tier consisting of Bitcoin and cash. The company believes that Solana may benefit from artificial intelligence-related blockchain activity, which is why it was allocated to the second tier.
The company has stated that it will continue to evaluate other digital assets and provide disclosure on material holdings as its strategy develops. The sizing and composition of each tier will be reviewed periodically by the Board.
