Digital Commodities Dives into Solana with C$100,000 Token Purchase
Digital Commodities, a Canadian public company, has made its foray into the world of Solana (SOL) by purchasing approximately C$100,000 worth of tokens using part of its physical gold holdings. This move is seen as a strategic allocation to digital assets, separate from its reserve foundation, which consists of 11 Bitcoin (BTC) and cash.
The company's CEO, Brayden Sutton, stated that the purchase represented about 5% of its estimated net asset value as of September 28. Digital Commodities did not disclose how much gold it sold or how many SOL tokens it acquired.
Sutton emphasized that Bitcoin remains the foundation of their treasury, but acknowledged the potential benefits of programmable finance, stablecoins, tokenization, and high-throughput, low-cost transactions on Solana's blockchain. The allocation will be built in stages and reviewed periodically by the company's board.
