DOGE Plunge Imminent: Unlimited Supply Threatens Dogecoin's Value
Dogecoin (DOGE) has been struggling to regain its value since dipping below $0.07 per coin in recent times, a level it hadn't reached since 2023. It briefly reclaimed the $0.10 mark last week but still lags behind its 2021 peak of $0.73 by 87%. The cryptocurrency was created as a joke in 2013 to poke fun at the seriousness surrounding Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Unlike many other digital assets, Dogecoin lacks a clear purpose or use case, which makes it difficult for investors to justify holding onto it. Only about 2,346 businesses worldwide accept DOGE, and most of them are small providers of crypto and internet services. This limited adoption means consumers have little reason to hold onto the asset.
Furthermore, Dogecoin's supply is not capped like Bitcoin's, which could lead to further dilution in value over time. With 5 billion new coins entering circulation each year, the circulating supply will grow indefinitely, making it unlikely for DOGE to increase in value in the long term.
