Dogecoin Developers Launch Public Testnet for DeFi Apps
The Dogecoin developers have launched a public testnet for their DeFi apps through DogeOS, a separate application network developed by the team behind the MyDoge wallet.
The testnet allows developers to use familiar Ethereum tools to build Dogecoin applications, including financial services, games, and consumer products.
Several projects are already in development, including Superposition Finance's lending service, Derps' perpetual futures exchange, and USDoge's cryptocurrency-backed stablecoin.
The testnet uses test DOGE for transaction fees and relies on selected operators and protected hardware for its initial security system.
However, the proposed upgrade, OP_CHECKZKP, would allow Dogecoin's network to verify mathematical evidence of calculations performed elsewhere, adding proof checking without requiring the network to run the applications itself.
