Dogecoin ETF Channel's Influence Exaggerated, Supply Side Remains Key
The Dogecoin price is influenced by many factors, but the ETF channel's role is often exaggerated. According to recent data, the largest fund, Grayscale Dogecoin Trust, holds only $14.11 million in net assets, which is a tiny fraction of the $14.63 billion market capitalization. In fact, the ETF channel's combined weight is less than 0.1% of the market, making it a negligible force in price movements.
A closer look at the inflows and outflows of the funds reveals a disappointing picture. In the past week, the funds on Dogecoin, Litecoin, and Hedera combined took in less than $10 million, which is a small amount compared to the $381 million in daily turnover on October 4. The Bitwise fund's wind-down plan, which ends on October 14, will see its holding converted into cash, but this is unlikely to have a significant impact on the price.
Another crucial aspect of the Dogecoin price is the supply side. The protocol's issuance of 10,000 DOGE per block, which occurs every minute, results in 14.4 million new coins being created daily. This steady supply is a key factor in the price movements, and it's essential to consider it when making predictions.
