The Dogecoin Foundation has been relaunched with a renewed focus on supporting the cryptocurrency's ecosystem and community. The foundation was initially formed in 2014 but had become inactive over time.

In 2021, it was revived with a new board of advisors, which includes some original core team members as well as seasoned industry players. This group will meet monthly to discuss issues related to Dogecoin.

The Board of Advisors consists of Dogecoin founder Billy Markus, core developer Max Keller, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, and Elon Musk's representative Jared Birchall. Each member has a specific role: Keller as technical advisor, Markus for community and memes, Buterin for blockchain and crypto advice, and Birchall as legal and financial advisor.

The foundation's first task is to secure three-year funding that will allow it to hire a small staff to work on Dogecoin full-time. Until now, the ecosystem has been maintained by volunteers.
