Dogecoin Integrates with Solana Ecosystem, Generates $19M in Trading Volume
Dogecoin has gained access to the Solana ecosystem through the Sunrise protocol's cross-chain liquidity gateway, associated with Wormhole infrastructure. This means that Dogecoin users can now access Solana applications without manually navigating the multi-step bridging process.
The Sunrise protocol uses a unified mint for incoming assets to prevent fragmentation of liquidity across Solana and avoid complications.
Historically, Dogecoin's blockchain was primarily built for payments, limiting its DeFi functionality. However, by becoming accessible on Solana, DOGE can tap into the chain's broader DeFi ecosystem, allowing users to trade, provide liquidity, and use DOGE in other financial applications such as Raydium, Jupiter, and Kamino.
Since going live on Solana, Dogecoin has reportedly generated over $19 million in trading volume over the last 24 hours, with a modest drop in price to $0.08915 at press time. Despite this initial success, traders appear to be losing momentum, with selling pressure increasing and overall trading activity declining.
