Dogecoin Leads Crypto Gains as Markets Eye US Inflation Data
The crypto market saw some mixed results on Wednesday, with Dogecoin and BNB leading the pack in gains. Dogecoin rose almost 3% to just above 7 cents, making it the top performer among major cryptocurrencies for both the day and week.
Binance Coin (BNB) followed closely behind, gaining around 2% to $614. Tron also saw a slight increase of nearly 1%, reaching just under 34 cents. XRP, on the other hand, added over half a percent but remains down 5% for the week.
The overall crypto market was driven by strong earnings in the semiconductor sector. Korea's Kospi jumped 4.6%, with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both surging around 7%. This growth had a ripple effect, lifting regional benchmarks and driving MSCI's Asia Pacific gauge up by almost 1%.
Despite these gains, investors remain cautious ahead of Thursday's U.S. CPI report. A lower inflation reading could fuel a relief rally in risk assets, including Bitcoin. However, rising oil prices pose a threat to pushing inflation higher.
