Dogecoin Price Surges 14% Amid Short Squeeze and Whale Activity
Dogecoin (DOGE) has experienced a significant surge in price over the past two days, rising by approximately 14% to push its value above $0.10. This move higher was accompanied by a substantial short squeeze across the crypto market, with DOGE alone seeing $5.66 million in short liquidations on September 21.
Whale activity has increased, with four large addresses opening long positions totaling 78.2 million DOGE, worth around $5.59 million. These positions are currently in profit, while the only short position opened during this period is at an unrealized loss of $119,000.
Institutional interest in DOGE has also picked up, with DOGE-focused ETFs recording $909,650 in inflows on Monday, a notable increase from the previous week's $284,510. Open interest on Dogecoin futures climbed to $1.57 billion, its highest level since August 22.
