Dogecoin Secures US Regulatory Approval for Perpetual Contracts
Dogecoin has gained new momentum in the US as fully regulated perpetual contracts have gone live on Kalshi, a prediction and derivatives platform. The rollout of this financial instrument was confirmed on Thursday, October 1, 2026, opening formal access to continuous derivatives within U.S. jurisdiction.
The launch of Dogecoin perpetuals marks a significant development for retail and institutional traders in the United States who had faced limited access to Dogecoin derivatives prior to this announcement. Market activity was primarily restricted to traditional fixed-expiration futures contracts on platforms like Coinbase or Robinhood, or capital routed toward offshore intermediaries outside federal oversight.
The contract design uses the DOGEUSD_RTI index administered by CF Benchmarks as its benchmark rate. The funding rate adjustments occur every eight hours, and order matching and settlements function around the clock, seven days a week.
