Dogecoin's Brief Surge to $0.10 Hinges on Consistent Buyers Amidst Short Squeeze
Dogecoin has seen a brief resurgence to $0.10 following a $12.7 million short squeeze, but its ability to maintain this level remains uncertain.
On September 22, Dogecoin surged above the critical price threshold of $0.10 for the first time in a month, driven by the forced liquidation of $12.7 million worth of short positions. However, this boost was short-lived, and by the end of September 23, the price had fallen back to $0.093.
The recent gains are encouraging, but Dogecoin remains down 18% for the year and has fallen 57% over the past 12 months. Investors who bought in five years ago are still down about 53%. To sustain its position above $0.10, consistent buyers are essential to absorb the approximately $10 million of new supply weekly.
The earlier attempt at breaching the $0.10 mark in August failed despite having higher volume than this recent surge. Dogecoin's ability to close back above $0.10 and surpass the September 22 high of $0.106 will be crucial in determining its outlook for October.
