Dogecoin's Utility Push: DogeOS Launches Public Testnet for Developer Ecosystem
Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) has launched its public testnet for DogeOS, an application layer designed to let developers build on top of the meme coin without altering the underlying Layer-1 network.
The testnet allows teams to build and test applications ahead of a mainnet launch. Projects already being developed include Barkswap, a liquidity engine, Superposition Finance, a lending protocol, Derps, a perpetual exchange, Split Markets, an options platform, and USDoge, a CDP-based stablecoin.
Dogecoin Foundation Director Timothy Stebbing called DogeOS a 'springboard' for new utility development that could serve as a gateway for the next 100 startups building around Dogecoin. He emphasized that Dogecoin's Layer 1 should remain simple, while additional functionality is built above it.
The testnet marks a significant step forward in Dogecoin's growth and adoption, with many developers joining the ecosystem to build financial tools, games, and other applications.
