DogeOS Brings Apps to Dogecoin With Public Testnet Launch
The Dogecoin community can now test and build applications on the network thanks to the public launch of DogeOS's application layer, also known as its EVM-compatible rollup network. The platform is live with a testnet, where developers can experiment with apps before they're deployed on the mainnet.
Fees for using the testnet are paid in DOGE, and several teams have already begun building applications, including lending protocols, perpetual exchanges, stablecoins, prediction market aggregators, and even mini-game publishers. One of these projects is Superposition Finance, a lending protocol that allows users to borrow against deposited crypto.
The DogeOS team has emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the base blockchain while introducing new functionality with their application layer. They're careful not to change Dogecoin itself but instead create an additional layer for building apps and services.
