DogeOS Brings EVM Smart Contracts to Dogecoin with ZK-Rollup
The Dogecoin (DOGE) ecosystem has reached a significant milestone with the launch of DogeOS, an EVM-compatible L2 application layer built on ZK-rollup technology. The project's official community announced the release of the Chikyū public testnet, developed by the team behind the MyDoge crypto wallet.
The DogeOS network handles heavy computations using zero-knowledge proofs (ZK-proofs), accelerating transaction processing to approximately 300 TPS while maintaining guaranteed security from the Dogecoin base blockchain. The new network offers full compatibility with standard Ethereum tooling, including Hardhat and EthersJS.
DOGE will be the sole native gas token for paying transaction fees and deploying smart contracts within the L2 network, putting billions of dollars in capital held by long-term DOGE holders to work. The project is backed by major venture capital, having previously raised $6.9 million in a seed round led by Polychain Capital.
