DogeOS Launches Public Test Network for Ethereum-Style Trading
DogeOS, a project founded by Jordan Jefferson and the team behind MyDoge, has launched a public test network for Ethereum-style trading, lending, and other applications using DOGE. The network allows developers to build applications on top of Dogecoin's blockchain, giving users more ways to use their coins beyond payments and price speculation.
The test network uses test DOGE to pay transaction fees and has already seen projects developing lending services, trading platforms, and a cryptocurrency-backed stablecoin. Eventually, DogeOS plans to rely on Dogecoin miners to verify its proofs, rather than selected operators and hardware.
Jefferson believes that applications will give people a reason to hold DOGE other than betting on its price. He notes that no other digital asset has Dogecoin's combination of liquidity, community, and cultural reach, making it ripe for growth.
