DogeOS Launches Public Testnet with EVM Smart Contracts
DogeOS has launched its public Chikyū testnet on September 30, bringing an EVM-compatible zero-knowledge rollup app layer to the Dogecoin ecosystem.
The testnet allows developers to build and test applications that use DOGE as the native token for transaction fees. It supports developer tools like Hardhat, Foundry, and Remix.
DogeOS currently operates with a chain ID of 6281971 and targets about 300 transactions per second, which is roughly ten times more than Dogecoin's Layer 1.
The testnet already hosts several DeFi and DEX projects, including Barkswap and USDoge. However, it relies on a trusted execution environment, validators, and a permissioned sequencer instead of on-chain ZK verification, creating security and centralization trade-offs.
