DogeOS Testnet Launches, Bringing Apps to the Dogecoin Ecosystem
DogeOS has launched its public testnet for Dogecoin, allowing developers to build and test applications on the network. The testnet is a trial version of the network where apps can be tested before real money is involved.
The teams building on DogeOS include Superposition Finance, a lending protocol; Derps, a perpetual exchange; USDoge, a CDP stablecoin; Snag, a prediction market aggregator; and PlaysOut, a mini-game publisher with plans to release 15 Doge-themed casual games by the end of 2025.
The launch is seen as a shift in what Dogecoin is: 'Today marks the beginning of Dogecoin's evolution from asset to ecosystem,' said Jordan Jefferson, founder and CEO of DogeOS. The team behind MyDoge wallet founded DogeOS, which runs as a separate layer rather than changing the coin itself.
Fees on the testnet are paid in $DOGE, the native coin of the Dogecoin network, and developers can earn free test coins through the faucet, which gives out 42.069 test $DOGE per day.
