DogeOS Unveils Chikyū Public Testnet for EVM-Compatible DOGE Apps
The DogeOS team has launched its Chikyū public testnet, providing an EVM-compatible environment for developers to build games, DeFi products, and other applications around DOGE without modifying the base blockchain.
Chikyū went live on September 30, 2026. DOGE acts as the native gas currency, so DogeOS does not introduce a separate network token.
DogeOS comes from the team behind MyDoge and raised $6.9 million in 2025. The project aims to bridge the limitations of the Dogecoin base blockchain by running application logic above it as a zero-knowledge rollup, allowing developers to build complex smart contracts.
The underlying Dogecoin ledger remains unchanged. EVM compatibility means Ethereum developers can use familiar tools, including Hardhat and Remix, making it easier for teams already building on Ethereum-compatible networks to adapt their existing Solidity contracts.
