DogeOS Unveils Public Testnet for Smart Contracts on Dogecoin
DogeOS has launched a public testnet that adds an EVM-compatible application layer to Dogecoin without changing the network's base chain. This rollout gives developers a live environment to build trading, lending, stablecoin and gaming applications as the project works toward a future mainnet launch.
The new testnet is built to support applications such as trading, lending, stablecoins, prediction markets and games, with state settling to the Dogecoin network. DogeOS currently relies on a trusted execution environment, validators and a permissioned sequencer for security.
'Dogecoin does not currently verify zero-knowledge proofs itself,' says Jordan Jefferson, CEO of DogeOS. 'Instead, bridge state transitions require valid proofs together with signatures from a majority of validators and a TEE signer.'
DogeOS raised $6.9 million from investors led by Polychain Capital in May 2025 and proposed a Dogecoin Core upgrade to allow miners to verify execution proofs.
