DOJ Cracks Down on Hamas Crypto Fundraising Efforts
The US Department of Justice has made significant strides in disrupting Hamas's fundraising efforts by seizing over $560,000 in cryptocurrency linked to the terrorist organization. The seizures targeted an ongoing scheme to finance terror operations and recruit supporters.
Hamas controlled the cryptocurrency addresses and online infrastructure on behalf of its military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. Investigators traced cryptocurrency donations through an online fundraising operation where a group chat claimed association with Hamas and directed supporters to a fundraising website.
The FBI seized approximately $560,000 in cryptocurrency in three operations on March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025. The department stated that this is a message to Hamas: 'We will stop your fundraising for terror.'
