DOJ Seizes $560K in Crypto Allegedly Bound for Hamas
US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced that the Department of Justice has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency allegedly bound for Hamas. This move is part of a larger effort to disrupt terrorist financing and recruitment online. The DOJ targeted fundraising infrastructure associated with Hamas' military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades.
The seizure was made possible through court-authorized warrants issued in March, June, and October 2025. These warrants allowed the FBI to take cryptocurrency from addresses promoted to supporters through an encrypted group chat and a fundraising website. The funds were moved outside the formal financial system using rotating cryptocurrency addresses provided by the group.
Pirro described the seizure as 'a massive blow' to Hamas, emphasizing that its networks are not secure and its crypto is vulnerable. She vowed to continue disrupting terrorist financing and recruitment efforts using every tool at their disposal. The DOJ also obtained the names and identities of thousands of individuals who attempted to give money to Hamas but were intercepted.
