Dollar-Driven Growth Outpaces Bitcoin's Dominance
The growth of cryptocurrency may not be driven by Bitcoin itself, but rather by dollar-denominated products and stablecoins. For most of crypto's history, buying Bitcoin was the first decision users made, but now companies and investors can enter the financial system through a dollar balance or settlement workflow without making a bet on BTC's price.
The use of digital dollars as a practical entry point into crypto is gaining traction, allowing users to pay, manage cash, and access investments before deciding whether to own volatile assets. Dollar products lower the first on-chain barrier and provide liquidity through tokens such as USDC.
Payment networks like Mastercard are testing the concept of stablecoin settlement capabilities, starting with USDC in select markets. This move aims to enable back-end settlement outside conventional banking cut-off times.
