A significant transaction has been recorded in the Bitcoin network, highlighting a growing trend of dormant holders moving their coins. On August 3, Whale Alert detected a transfer of 500 BTC from a wallet that had remained inactive since 2013. The funds, worth approximately $31.3 million at current prices, were moved to a new address.

The transaction is part of a larger pattern of dormant coin movement, which has been observed in the same time window. According to CryptoQuant data, there was a notable spike in dormant coin movement, with 6,388 BTC from wallets inactive for between five and seven years recorded on July 31. On August 3, approximately 935 BTC with more than a decade of inactivity moved, marking the highest daily volume since March 20.

The recent transactions may be linked to security concerns stemming from the hack of Coldcard, a popular Bitcoin-only hardware wallet. Multiple attackers have exploited a vulnerability dating back to March 2021, resulting in cumulative losses of approximately $130 million in BTC, according to Galaxy Research.
