Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Awakens, Moves Millions After 14-Year Slumber

A Bitcoin wallet that had been dormant since 2011 suddenly came back to life on August 6, 2026, moving millions of dollars in BTC. The wallet, which held 49.97 BTC received on July 16, 2011, when the price was around $10 per coin, is now worth approximately $3.23 million after a staggering 634,347% gain.

The wallet's activity has sparked interest among traders and analysts, who are trying to determine the motivation behind the sudden movement of funds. The receiving wallet has previously routed funds to deposits tied to FalconX, a crypto prime broker, which could indicate that the old coins are being repositioned toward a trading venue.

This is not an isolated incident, as Bitcoin whales have been waking up and moving billions in BTC repeatedly over the past year. In most cases, the destination pointed to professional infrastructure, rather than a private holder cashing out.
