Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Spews 600 BTC Worth $51.15 Million After 14.2 Years
A dormant Bitcoin wallet has been reactivated after an astonishing 14.2 years of inactivity, sending 600 BTC worth approximately $51.15 million to a new address.
The transaction occurred on September 22, 2026, at 07:22 UTC, according to blockchain tracker Whale Alert. At the time, the price of Bitcoin was around $85,252.28 per coin.
To put this increase in perspective, if we use the historical Bitcoin data from July 2012 as a reference point, when Bitcoin traded near $7.06, the same 600 BTC would have been worth only $4,236. This means that the value of these coins increased by approximately $51.146 million, or about 12,075 times their original value.
The transaction data shows that multiple inputs were associated with the dormant address, including blocks of various sizes ranging from 10 to 200 BTC. The coins were ultimately consolidated into one receiving address.
