Dormant Bitcoin Wallets Stir Up Crypto Community with $28 Million Move
Seven Bitcoin wallets that have been dormant for nearly 16 years are now active. In March 2010, each of the seven wallets received a block reward of 50 BTC. This week, they collectively moved 350 BTC valued at approximately $28 million in a series of transactions.
The transferred coins match the original value when mined and were sent without splitting the transactions, suggesting that the wallets may have a single owner or group controlling several early mining addresses.
This event is considered significant within the crypto community since Bitcoin mined in March 2010 almost never leaves its original wallets. However, there is no concrete evidence yet that these coins are being sent to exchanges or that their owners intend to sell.
