Draper Demands Corporate Adoption of BTC Amid Inflation Fears
Billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper is urging major technology companies like Apple and Meta to add Bitcoin to their balance sheets. He believes it's 'irresponsible' for these large corporations not to hold BTC as part of their corporate reserves.
Draper, a longtime advocate for Bitcoin, warns that current fiscal trends could lead to either hyperinflation or sharply higher interest rates. Both scenarios would create serious problems for the traditional financial system, and he believes Bitcoin would serve as a hedge against these issues.
Corporations have been slow to adopt Bitcoin, with only a few publicly traded companies adding it to their treasuries. For instance, Microsoft shareholders rejected a Bitcoin-related proposal in December 2024, with only 0.55% of votes cast supporting the measure (28.23 million shares voted for it). Meta shareholders also considered a similar proposal in May 2025, but their board recommended voting against it.
Draper sees Bitcoin as infrastructure for an alternative financial economy that uses blockchain systems and smart contracts to reduce the need for intermediaries like accountants and payment processors. He believes AI could accelerate Bitcoin adoption by making it easier to build software and services around the network.
