Dubai Airline Emirates Now Accepts Crypto Payments

The world's largest airline, Emirates, is embracing cryptocurrency payments for flights through its partnership with Crypto.com. This move positions Emirates at the intersection of aviation and digital assets, which are two areas that Dubai loves most.

The integration uses Crypto.com Pay, a payment infrastructure that already processes transactions for various merchants. Travelers would pay through Crypto.com's system, which handles conversions and settlements, eliminating the need for Emirates to hold volatile digital assets on its balance sheet.

A key piece of this puzzle fell into place in May 2026 when Crypto.com secured a central bank license in the UAE. This regulatory approval enables payment integration in jurisdictions that prioritize financial licensing.

Dubai has been aggressively promoting itself as the global capital of blockchain and digital finance, with VARA's regulatory frameworks, major crypto exchanges setting up regional headquarters, and weaving blockchain technology into various services.
