Dunamu Seeks Global Expansion, Connecting Korean Crypto Ecosystem
Dunamu, the parent company of Upbit, is planning to expand its reach beyond South Korea's domestic crypto market. According to CEO Oh Kyoung-suk, Dunamu aims to connect the country's digital asset ecosystem with global financial markets.
Korea has a strong reputation in digital assets, boasting a large user base, ample liquidity, and expertise. However, much of this strength remains confined within the domestic market.
To address this, Oh stressed the need for clear and predictable channels for market entry, allowing global capital and companies to enter the Korean market with confidence. He also emphasized the importance of establishing a framework that allows for the free exchange of digital assets entering the country for won and their use in real-world financial activities.
Dunamu is set to collaborate with Naver Financial on this effort, providing shared infrastructure for banks, brokerages, payment companies, and fintech firms to build compliant on-chain financial services without having to develop functions like trading, custody, asset transfers, and anti-money laundering compliance on their own.
