Dunamu Teams Up With Visa for Stablecoin and AI Payments Partnership
Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, has partnered with Visa to build stablecoin and AI-driven payment infrastructure. The companies announced their strategic partnership on August 27 in San Francisco.
The deal explores Open USD, a dollar-pegged stablecoin backed by a consortium that includes Visa, Mastercard, Blackrock, and over 140 other companies. Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok said the rollout will phase in through late 2026 pending regulatory approval.
The partnership aims to connect digital assets with existing financial systems using AI, stablecoins, and tokenization. This 'bridge' between South Korea's largest crypto exchange operator and one of the world's biggest payment networks could be a game-changer for cross-border remittances and agentic commerce.
