Dutch Authorities Sell Off Assets of Bankrupt Crypto Exchange Knaken for $2.55M
Dutch authorities have finalized the sale of bankrupt crypto exchange Knaken's remaining assets for approximately $2.55 million, marking a significant step in the liquidation process.
The sale follows the exchange's collapse after failing to meet European Union's MiCA regulatory requirements, which mandate strict authorization and operational standards for crypto service providers.
Knaken had attracted around 30,000 customers through aggressive marketing, including sponsorships of local soccer clubs, but failed to comply with the EU regulation.
The exact circumstances of the missing customer funds, reportedly up to $8.12 million, are under investigation, and prosecutors have not yet confirmed whether fraud or mismanagement is suspected.
