Easier Blockchain Network Management: A Guide for 2026
Adding and managing blockchain networks has become significantly easier in recent years. Gone are the days of manually entering RPC addresses, chain IDs, and currency symbols for each network.
Wallets like MetaMask now support multichain accounts, which allow users to manage multiple chains with a single recovery phrase. This feature is available for Ethereum and its related chains, Solana, Bitcoin, and Tron (since January 2026). The common networks are already stored in the wallet, and MetaMask decides per application which network is in use.
However, users still need to add networks themselves in certain cases: with new chains that their wallet does not yet know and with smaller chains. There are two convenient ways to do this:
Through the application: many decentralized applications ask when you connect whether they may enter the matching network into your wallet.
Through Chainlist: the site chainlist.org collects the data of thousands of networks. Users can search for the network, connect their wallet, and have it entered.
