ECB Pontes Boosts Demand for Secure Data and Interoperability in Tokenized Finance
The European Central Bank has launched Pontes, a service connecting its payment infrastructure with blockchain-based financial markets. This development supports the growth of tokenized finance and increases demand for secure data and interoperability services that Chainlink provides. Remittix, another project in the space, addresses the consumer side of this transition by linking crypto with bank settlement.
Chainlink was not named as a participant in Pontes, but the expansion of tokenized finance supports demand for its oracle and interoperability products. The price of LINK trades near $12.75, while RTX's earlier PayFi position may offer a more aggressive route into finance moving on-chain.
The ECB plans to invest a small portion of its own funds in highly rated euro-denominated digital securities, and Pontes initially includes institutions such as Deutsche Bank, Santander, and Clearstream. The service allows blockchain transactions to settle in central-bank money during operating hours, with broader services expected over time.
