ECX Prepares Mainnet Launch on October 31 with 1:1 Token Distribution
ECX is planning to launch its mainnet on October 31. The project will have three phases: Alpha, Beta, and permanent mainnet launch.
The Alpha phase is expected to go live around Bitcoin block height 963648. The Beta phase is set for September 20 at block height 967680, while the mainnet launch will occur on October 31 at block height 973728.
ECX will replicate the transaction history of a specified Bitcoin snapshot and distribute ECX tokens to most Bitcoin holders on a 1:1 basis. Users who control their private keys via self-hosted wallets will be able to claim their corresponding assets directly, while those using exchanges or other custodial services will need to wait for platform decisions regarding support for the fork and distribution of ECX.
The initial launch will feature seven custom sidechains: Thunder, Zside, Bitnames, Bitassets, Photon, Truthcoin, and Coinshift. Approximately 60% of early Bitcoin's allocated ECX will go to addresses associated with Satoshi Nakamoto, while 50% will be transferred through a special transaction to early investors and development funds.
Paul Sztorc, founder and CEO of Layertwo Labs, developer of Drivechains and BIP-300/301, is behind the project. ECX's implementation will not affect existing Bitcoin (BTC) holders, as their assets will remain unchanged.
