Edelman Predicts Bitcoin Will Match Amazon's Widespread Adoption
Financial advisor Ric Edelman has made headlines by comparing Bitcoin's adoption to Amazon in 1999. He believes that, just as investors were unsure about Amazon at the time, many people are still hesitant to invest in BTC today.
Edelman pointed out that in 1999, investors debated whether to include Amazon in their portfolios. Today, it is hard to imagine a portfolio without Amazon. Similarly, he expects Bitcoin to follow a similar adoption trajectory and become widely held over time.
The comparison between the two assets is not meant to suggest they are identical. Amazon is an operating company with revenue and cash flows, while Bitcoin is a decentralized digital asset. However, Edelman's argument is that their adoption rates will converge in the future.
Edelman also reiterated his prediction of $500,000 BTC by 2030. He based this forecast on his assumption that global investment portfolios will allocate approximately 1% of their assets to Bitcoin. This would correspond to a price increase of roughly 550% from its current level.
