Edelman Sees $500K Bitcoin Price Target by 2030 Under Global Asset Shift
Ric Edelman presented his crypto allocation framework at the Bitcoin Treasuries Conference in New York on September 28. The framework recommends allocating between 10% and 40% of a portfolio to cryptocurrencies, with corresponding stock-and-bond splits ranging from 60%/30% to 40%/20%. Edelman's framework does not specify whether the allocation bands are intended exclusively for Bitcoin.
The allocation thesis links longer investor lifespans with the need for greater exposure to growth assets. According to Edelman, 'The traditional 60/40 stock-bond allocation model is dead.' He also wrote that a $500,000 price target for Bitcoin by 2030 is based on simple arithmetic, assuming 1% of global assets move into Bitcoin.
Edelman's calculation assumes $750 trillion in global assets, with 1% representing $7.5 trillion, and estimates a $377,000 price impact for each Bitcoin added to the then-current price. He stated that 'It's simple arithmetic' and that 'If everybody in the world allocates 1% of assets to bitcoin, that translates to a $500,000 price, it's really that simple.'
Edelman published his framework in June 2025, using the broader term crypto, while framing the recommendation around Bitcoin in his conference discussion and September 17 interview. The framework does not specify whether the allocation bands are intended exclusively for Bitcoin.
