Michael Egorov, founder of Curve Finance and Yield Basis, recently criticized Pump.fun on X for its memecoin listings. He called it a 'casino of scams' and argued that most tokens launched on the platform offer little real value to traders.

Pump.fun is a Solana-based launchpad that lets users create and trade memecoins directly on-chain. Egorov also had issues connecting his Phantom wallet to a hardware device, saying it was a 'rougher' experience than using MetaMask.

ClawPump co-founder Tomi204 responded in the same thread, pushing back against Egorov's criticism and arguing that responsibility for how Pump.fun is used rests with individual users. He also said Phantom remains a workable option for average, non-technical users, even if experienced users occasionally hit friction during setup.

Egorov followed up by broadening his point, arguing that wallets and trading platforms tend to decline in quality after they gain wide market recognition.
