EigenLayer's $7.66M EIGEN Release Marks Milestone for Re-Staking Program

EigenLayer's re-staking program has released $7.66 million in EIGEN tokens to investors and early contributors, marking a significant milestone for the protocol.

The release of 39,488,745 EIGEN on September 1, 2026, amounts to 4.49% of the circulating supply and is part of the program's aim to activate the rewards flywheel by encouraging AVSs to distribute rewards early.

EigenLayer holds $15.258 billion in total value locked, comprising 4,364,467 ETH, which supports Actively Validated Services (AVSs) like EigenDA that provide data availability for Layer 2 networks.

The protocol distributes at least 4% of the total EIGEN supply to stakers and operators through programmatic incentives, with rewards-boosts delivering EIGEN to participants in proportion to the rewards they receive from AVSs.
