EMCD Mining Pool Seeks Community Feedback on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal
EMCD Mining Pool has launched a hashrate-weighted vote among its participants to determine the pool's signaling position on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 110. This proposal would introduce new limits on storing arbitrary non-monetary data in Bitcoin transactions.
The voting period is open to all EMCD pool participants, with each vote weighted according to the miner's contributed hashrate. Once the voting concludes, the pool's signaling will be updated to reflect the collective decision of its miners.
EMCD General Manager Konstantin Zherebtsov emphasized that this approach reflects the company's broader philosophy of neutrality, transparency, and decentralization. He stated, 'At EMCD, we do not support the approach proposed in BIP-110, as we believe changes of this kind should not impose additional restrictions on how the Bitcoin network is used.'
The vote is part of EMCD's commitment to ensuring that its signaling represents the collective view of its mining community. The company has over 30 EH/s of hashrate and serves users and businesses across 120+ markets.
