Empery Digital Invests $20 Million in AI Data Centers Amid Bitcoin Treasury Pivot
Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin treasury company Empery Digital has shifted its strategy, closing a $20 million preferred-equity stake in Cardinal Data Power. This investment supports a planned West Texas data-center campus and is part of an approximately $70 million Series A funding round. As of July 10, Empery still held 1,514 BTC and $45 million of debt.
The company generated approximately $87.1 million in gross proceeds from selling 1,400 BTC between May 7 and July 10 at an average price of $62,200. This sale was part of a broader capital-allocation shift, although Empery has not disclosed whether the proceeds directly funded Cardinal. The deal formed part of a pivot beyond Bitcoin treasury management.
The company's latest filing did not provide updated quantitative treasury balances for its investments in Bitcoin and Cardinal Data Power. A separate Midwest property acquisition remains conditional, with Empery having contributed $2.9 million and committed another $62.1 million upon the contemplated property closing. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to due diligence and other conditions.
