Enterprise-Led Stablecoin Adoption Shifts Gears
The stablecoin market is shifting from consumer-focused adoption to enterprise-driven innovation, according to Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs. Boiron argues that stablecoins are becoming more relevant as they solve specific problems in cross-border and emerging-market use cases.
Stablecoins are not suited for everyday domestic spending or splitting dinner bills, but they excel in areas like remittances, creator payouts, marketplace earnings, and business payments across borders. This distinction between domestic and cross-border payments is crucial in understanding the utility of stablecoins.
Boiron believes that consumer adoption will take time as it requires more than just faster payment transfers. The real opportunity lies in making money usable immediately after transfer, allowing creators to spend or earn on it without intermediaries. This is already happening in places like Argentina and marketplaces where people get paid frequently.
