Equities Plummet Amid Rising Yields
US equities were lower on September 18th as government bond yields rebounded to their highest levels in nearly two decades. The S&P 500's broad market indicators, IWM and IVV, slid during midday activity.
The Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) eased 0.1%, while the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) dipped 0.2%. However, some sectors showed resilience, with the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) rising 0.3% and the iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) adding 1%.
Cryptocurrency markets saw a mixed performance, with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) increasing by 5.4%. The ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) was 5.8% higher, while the ProShares Ether ETF (EETH) rose by 6.1%.
