ERC-8392 Seeks Common Standard for Tokenized Asset Status

A new proposal has been made to address issues in tokenized stocks on blockchain networks. ERC-8392, introduced by Ethereum developer Eric Conner, aims to standardize a status interface for tokenized assets.

The current mismatch between continuous blockchain activity and limited operating hours of traditional markets can lead to price discrepancies. Tokenized stocks can be traded at any hour, but their reference shares may not be trading on an exchange during weekends or other market closures.

Conner's proposal includes a required interface called IAssetStatus, which covers the token program's lifecycle and operational condition. It also proposes three optional extensions for the reference market, valuation feed, and primary issuance or redemption process.

The draft has been reviewed by several experts, including those from lending markets, and feedback is still being sought. The proposal aims to provide a common format for status information, allowing applications to respond accordingly.
