ESMA Expands MiCA Registry with 15 New Crypto Providers
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has announced that 15 new Crypto Asset Service Providers have been added to the official MiCA registry, bringing the total number of registered providers to 309.
This includes major custodial bank BNY Mellon's Belgian subsidiary and payments giant BitPay, marking a significant development in the regulation of cryptocurrency in the EU.
The inclusion of these new providers under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) aims to provide legal certainty and passporting rights for investors across 27 EU states, reducing risk associated with counterparties failing.
